De ytre lagene er rike på quercetin, et viktig plantestoff som sammen med isotiocyanater gir rødløken smak. Rødløk, også kalt rød kepaløk, er søsteren til gul løk og en god erstatning i de fleste sammenhenger. Ikke minst når du ønsker litt mer farge i retten, som for eksempel i wok eller salat. Rødløk er som regel litt mildere og søtere i smak enn den gule slektningen – men kan også ha mer smak og oppleves sterkere. Løk lagres best i tørr luft. Kjøleskap er godt egnet, men er ikke nødvendig i vinterhalvåret.",
